Ruta de la sal regatta

If you want to live a unique experience and you have not never participated in ocean sailing regatta, this is the best way to get started in the exciting world of the regattas of sailing cruise. The Ruta de la Sal is a race who was born in 1989, in commemoration of the blockade that Barcelona suffered because of the Carlist Wars
In may 1846, because of the blockade imposed on Barcelona by the Carlist armies during "La Revolta dels Mariners", there was a shortage of salt that endangered the city of Barcelona.

A well-known Barcelona business man had the original idea to summon the most famous navigators of the time and present a challenge: pay services to transport salt from the Salinas Pitiüses to El Garraf (Barcelona) but according to the order of arrival. The first to arrive would charge in gold, but the last maybe even could pay the wages of the crews.

Thirteen ships were submitted to the challenge. The first to arrive was the "Maltese Falcon", a schooner of Baltimore 32 m. in length and skippered by Andreas Potrus Greek, followed by the jabeque "Djerba" and "Arrogant" Brig.

Experience Plan

• Day: 1
  • 14: 00 departure Port Olímpic to reach Port Ginesta at 17:00 (possibility to arrive directly at 20:00 hours to Port Ginesta for those who cannot)
  • 18:00 meeting of skippers.
  • 20:00 dinner in the village and go to sleep early.
• Day: 2
  • 08:00 breakfast and preparations before departure
  • 10:00 start of the race. Destination: Sant Antoni (Ibiza). 140 nautical miles.

If you cannot sail on Wednesday, you can come directly to Port Ginesta or 08.00 h on Thursday.

• Day: 3
  • Arrival to Port de Sant Antoni Portmany along Friday, everything will depend on the wind and our tactics. Time to rest.
• Day: 4
  • 12:00 departure and anchor at Cala Comte. Back to the sunset.
  • 21:00 dinner in the village and awards party.
• Day: 5
  • 10:00 departure from Sant Antoni's return to Barcelona. According to the part and the desire, course to Columbretes, Dragonera or heading direct to Barcelona.
• Day: 6
• Arrival to Port Olímpic in Barcelona upon half-day (aproximatelly, depending of weather and the wind).
