Workshop on optimisation of sailing routes

As you know, when sailing, the fastest route is not a straight line. Have you ever wondered what is the optimal route for an offshore voyage?

Given that the wind rotates frequently and changes its intensity and on the other hand, the speed of the boat changes according to the conditions, it is not intuitive to know what is the optimal route to sail.

In the sailing route optimisation workshop we will explain how to optimise routes in regattas or offshore crossings using simple tools within everyone's reach. Taking into account the characteristics of the boat and the appropriate weather model, with a simple app we can plan the route and track and update it during navigation.

In this presentation we will also learn very important values for tracking en route during the regatta: VMG (Velocity Made Good) and VMC (Velocity Made Course).
