Terms for boat trips and sailing tours in Barcelona

Quick summary for Barcelona boat tours

These are the booking terms for our Barcelona boat tours and skipper-led sailing trips. We explain everything clearly so you know exactly how booking, payment, date changes and cancellations work.

  • Check-in / meeting point: at the agreed spot (usually Port Olímpic) and at the scheduled time.
  • Payment: the trip must be paid before boarding (card, PayPal or bank transfer).
  • Date changes and cancellations: fees apply depending on how much notice you give (see tables).
  • Weather and safety: if the skipper considers it unsafe to sail, we’ll offer the best alternative (new date or an equivalent plan).

Booking, check-in and boarding at Port Olímpic

When you book a sailing trip in Barcelona or a private boat excursion with skipper, we’ll confirm by email/WhatsApp:

  • Date, departure time and duration.
  • The exact meeting point at Port Olímpic (or another agreed harbour).
  • Boat and skipper details, when applicable.

Tip: arrive 15 minutes early so boarding is relaxed. Check-in and return times are respected to keep the day’s schedule running smoothly.

What’s usually included on a boat trip or sailing experience

Depending on what you book (private, shared, sunset cruise, corporate event, etc.), the service may include:

  • Professional skipper and a safety briefing.
  • Typical harbour fees, insurance and final cleaning.
  • Fuel (when it’s specified on the experience page).
  • Onboard extras: welcome drink, snacks, music, swim stop, and more.

Want to add extras (catering, premium drinks, photographer, a special route, birthday décor, etc.)? Tell us beforehand so it’s confirmed in the booking—no last-minute surprises.

Payment and confirmation for your boat trip

How to pay for your Barcelona boat trip

Payment must be completed before boarding, following the instructions for the experience you booked. You can pay by:

  • Card (online payment link)
  • PayPal
  • Bank transfer

Some bookings require a deposit or prepayment to hold the boat and time slot. Once we block that slot, the boat is no longer available to other customers.

Cancellations and date changes for boat tours

Our policy is similar to other private charter companies: once a booking is confirmed, we reserve a boat and crew for you. On big tour platforms you may see free cancellation up to 24 hours, but for private departures it’s normal to apply fees depending on the notice period.

Cancellation fees

If you cancel your boat trip in Barcelona, the following fees apply:

Notice Fee
Up to 7 days before the trip 50% of the total service
Within the last 72 hours 100% of the total service

Rescheduling (changing the date)

If you change the date, it’s treated as a reschedule and the following fees apply:

Notice Rescheduling fee
15 days or more 25% of the total service
Within the last 7 days 50% of the total service
Within the last 72 hours 100% of the total service

Deposit and refunds

Important about the deposit: the deposit used to confirm the booking is refundable up to 50%. We can’t refund more than 50% of the prepayment—even in force majeure—unless BDA Sailing Experience states otherwise in writing.

Weather, safety and operator cancellations

Safety comes first. If there’s adverse weather (strong wind, rough sea, official warnings, etc.) that affects navigation, the skipper may decide to adjust the plan or cancel the trip.

What if it rains?

If it’s light rain and it’s safe, we usually go ahead and adapt the route. If the rain starts right before boarding, we can change the order (a quick onshore part first, then sailing) or move the sailing part to the first available day—ideally the next day.

What if it’s not safe to sail?

If conditions don’t allow safe sailing, we’ll offer reasonable alternatives: a new date, a voucher/credit, or an equivalent plan (depending on availability and the type of experience booked).

Gift vouchers and validity

Voucher expiry for sailing experiences

Unless your voucher states otherwise, gift vouchers and experiences are valid for 12 months from purchase. Some promotional vouchers may expire at the end of the calendar year—if so, it will be clearly shown on the voucher.

If your voucher expired due to force majeure, we can consider reactivating it with a 25% fee on the total value (case-by-case and subject to availability).

Deals, prices and taxes

Discount terms

Prices and deals published on Barcodealquiler.com are not cumulative. If more than one promotion applies to the same experience, we’ll apply the one that gives you the best discount.

Not sure what’s included (drinks, fuel, extras, etc.)? Check the experience page or message us and we’ll confirm everything in writing.

Onboard rules and tips for your boat trip

What to bring on your boat excursion

To keep your Barcelona boat trip comfortable and safe, we recommend:

  • Comfortable clothing for the season and a light jacket (it gets cooler at sea).
  • Non-marking shoes (light soles) to avoid scuffing the deck.
  • If you’re coming with kids, tell us their ages so we can recommend the best duration and boat type.
  • Always follow the skipper’s instructions—they’re responsible onboard.

FAQs about Barcelona boat trips

Can I change the number of people?

Usually yes, as long as the boat’s legal capacity isn’t exceeded and we confirm it before departure. For shared trips, places are limited by availability.

What if I’m late for check-in?

We’ll do our best to help, but the trip may be shortened to keep the return schedule. If the delay prevents departure, it will be treated as a no-show and the cancellation policy applies.

Can I bring food and drinks?

It depends on the experience and the boat. On many private trips it’s allowed, but it’s best to confirm when booking to avoid restrictions and to manage waste onboard.

Still have a question? Message us and we’ll help you choose the best boat experience for your plan.
